- about the project
Project Overview
This whole home remodel in Port Jefferson, New York, was an extensive transformation that required both structural expertise and creative vision. When the homeowners purchased the property, they knew the home needed significant work — inside and out.
A professional inspection confirmed their concerns almost immediately. The deck swayed side to side. The roof showed uneven wear. The siding needed replacement. Structural safety was a real issue, not just cosmetic updates. And that was only the exterior.
What the homeowners needed wasn’t just a contractor, they needed a builder who could reimagine the home holistically, solve structural challenges, and guide them confidently through a complex remodel. That builder was John Petsco of Long Island Creative Contracting.

Producer Notes
This shoot was filled with laughter and ease. The homeowners were natural on camera: charismatic, expressive, and comfortable sharing their experience.
One of the most compelling aspects of this project was the balance between structural necessity and creative design. The semi-circular stairwell windows, reinforced railings, and exterior rebuild required technical precision, while the interior finishes and layout demanded a strong design eye.
The homeowners joked that after the project was complete, John had his a picture of a lobster somewhere in their house for them to find later and I think this sums up John’s personality: thoughtful, playful, and deeply invested in his clients’ experience even after the project is complete.
This testimonial captures not just a renovation, but a relationship built on trust and collaboration.
- how we did it
Creative Approach
The result is a film that feels relaxed, genuine, and deeply personal. This testimonial was filmed entirely within the completed space, allowing the home itself to tell the story alongside the homeowners.
Key creative decisions included:
- Interview-led storytelling guided by StoryBrand-style questions
- Cinematic b-roll layered over the interview to show the transformation in context
- Room-by-room pacing, mirroring the journey through the home
- Capturing personality and warmth through natural moments and humor
- Featuring their cat throughout the home to add life and authenticity
The video balances the homeowners’ charismatic personalities with the peaceful atmosphere of a Sound-side home. The homeowners were open, expressive, and genuinely enthusiastic about their experience.
They entered the project fully aware of its scope. Safety concerns, aging materials, and structural issues made the remodel unavoidable. But after speaking with several builders, something was missing. What set John apart was his design-forward mindset. They were impressed by his ability to:
- Visualize the project from the start
- Use 3D renderings to show design changes in real time
- Help them see what the home could become
- Coordinate seamlessly with trusted local professionals
- Know what was happening day-to-day
